The EMBO PhD Course is a dynamic two-week training experience designed to empower you with the essential skills needed to thrive in your research career—and beyond.

Week 1, in-person: Mastering Scientific Communication & Professional Skills

Learn to communicate your science with confidence and clarity. Through interactive workshops and hands-on sessions, you will:

  • Craft compelling abstracts and learn how to structure your research article
  • Deliver engaging research presentations tailored to different audiences
  • Explore the art of writing persuasive grant proposals
  • Boost your interpersonal communication and feedback skills
  • Gain practical tools for effective time management
  • Reflect on and discuss gender dynamics in academia

This week is all about building your voice and presence as a scientist in a supportive, peer-driven environment.

.

Week 2, online: Ethics, Creativity & Career Perspectives

The second week moves online with a focus on integrity, creativity, and your future career path. You will explore:

  • Scientific integrity and peer review—what every researcher needs to know
  • Design principles to create figures that truly tell your story
  • Non-academic career options at our Career Fair, featuring inspiring talks from professionals across academia, industry, and beyond
