About the Workshop

To cope with the threat of genome instability, cells have evolved an intricate network of mechanisms ranging from cell cycle checkpoints to specialized DNA repair pathways known as the DNA damage response. These mechanisms are evolutionary conserved from prokaryotes to metazoans. However, in this EMBO Workshop of evolution, tissue- and species-specific divergence has contributed to development of additional layers of complexity. This workshop will cover the different aspects of the DNA damage response ranging from the evolutionary to the tissue- and organ-specific diversity aspects of the process And its impact on human health and disease.

About the Area

Aldovia Resort & Convention is located in Devanahalli, in the northern part of Bengaluru, close to Kempegowda International Airport. Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka, is one of India’s major scientific, technological and educational centres. The city is internationally known for its research institutions, biotechnology sector, information technology industry and cosmopolitan academic environment.

Bengaluru is also a vibrant and historically layered city, combining modern urban culture with gardens, museums, heritage buildings, traditional markets and a diverse food scene. The city is home to several major academic and research institutions, including the Indian Institute of Science, and has a long-standing reputation as a centre for science, engineering and innovation in India.

The venue itself is located away from the busiest parts of the city, offering a quieter residential conference setting while remaining easily accessible from the airport and the wider Bengaluru region. The surrounding Devanahalli–Nandi Hills area is close to several places of historical and cultural interest, including Devanahalli Fort, associated with the history of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, and the ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the foot of Nandi Hills.
