About the Practical Course
Integrative modelling has become a central framework for understanding biomolecular interactions by combining heterogeneous experimental data with advanced computational approaches. Over the past few years, the field has undergone rapid development, driven by breakthroughs in AI-based structure prediction and the integration of molecular simulations to move beyond static structural models. These advances now make it possible to explore not only the architecture of biomolecular complexes, but also their conformational landscapes and functional dynamics.
This EMBO Practical Course will provide an up-to-date overview of integrative modelling strategies with a focus on biomolecular dynamics. Building on progress in dynamic structural biology, deep learning, hybrid AI/physics approaches, and simulations, this practical course will highlight how structural and dynamic information can be of help to capture transient or heterogeneous interactions. Special attention will be given to challenging systems such as molecular machines, disordered regions, and multi-component assemblies, where dynamics are essential for function.
By bringing together leading experts and early-career researchers, this EMBO Practical Course will serve as a platform for hands-on training, discussions between communities and network building. Roughly half of the course will consist of practical sessions where the participants will run computations on interesting biological problems. To encourage interaction between the tutors and participants and stimulate discussions, the participants will be prompted to present their own research, both in flash presentations and poster sessions and to bring their own research problems to dedicated troubleshooting sessions.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
