About the EMBO-FEBS Lecture Course

From molecular recognition and cellular communication to interactions with advanced biomaterials, biointerfaces play a fundamental role in life and drive innovation across medicine, biotechnology, and engineering. Despite significant advances, experts investigating basic biological mechanisms, developing cutting-edge technologies, and translating discoveries into practical applications often work within separate communities. To address the most pressing challenges in diagnostics, therapeutics, and bioengineering, we need to bring together diverse perspectives, foster collaboration, and create connections across disciplines.

The Joint FEBS/EMBO Lecture Course ‘Biological surfaces and interfaces – Applications, challenges, and opportunities across disciplines’ aim specifically to bring together an international community of scientists working at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field. Over five days, this FEBS/EMBO Lecture Course will cover Biomedical Devices and Implants alongside, Bioprinting and Tissue Engineering, Nanoparticles Applications at the Biointerface and Tools for Understanding the Biointerface.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops

EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).

Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.

About FEBS and the FEBS Advanced Courses programme

As a grass-roots organization FEBS provides a voice to a large part of the academic research and teaching community in Europe and beyond. The FEBS Advanced Courses programme provides grants to expert scientists to organize courses that bring together researchers working in a similar research area, for training, updates, and networking. FEBS collaborates with EMBO, and other organizations, to co-fund some of these courses. You can learn more about FEBS here.
