About the Workshop
This fourth edition of the EMBO Workshop on Proteostasis shaping health span: from protein folding to failure focuses on promoting a full scale exploration of protein folding and failure across lifespan. Proteostasis is essential for cellular function, regulating protein synthesis, folding, trafficking, and degradation. Throughout life, these mechanisms adapt to environmental and physiological changes. However, alterations over time are known to disrupt proteostasis, contributing to chronic and degenerative diseases. As longevity increases, so does the need for targeted interventions to enhance proteostasis and promote cellular resilience.
This EMBO Workshop aims to unite experts in protein homeostasis, fostering dialogue between specialists in protein synthesis, folding, quality control, and degradation, neurodegeneration, drug development and aging. A multidisciplinary approach will accelerate innovation and uncover new strategies to sustain proteostasis, ultimately improving healthspan.
Topics covered will include protein synthesis and degradation, age-related disorders, signaling events pertaining to proteostasis maintenance and loss, cellular and developmental impact of proteostasic processes, and the role of proteostasis in neurodegeneration and age-related disorders. The program also features several round table discussions on emerging topics including new technologies, sustainability in science, early career research support and opportunities to meet with keynote speakers and journal editors.
Trainees and early career investigators are encouraged to submit abstracts to be selected for short talks.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
