About the Workshop

The EMBO COB Workshop on "Membrane shaping and remodeling by proteins" will focus on exciting new developments in Cell Biology where the morphology and dynamics of lipid bilayers play important roles. These areas include organelle biogenesis, endocytosis, and vesicular trafficking. While several mechanisms for the shaping and remodeling of membranes have been proposed, in most cases, specific proteins seem to be involved in the generation of membrane curvature, membrane fusion, and fission. This symposium will discuss the different protein-based mechanisms by which membrane shaping and remodeling are induced to achieve important biological functions.

This EMBO Workshop was made possible by funding provided by The Company of Biologists.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops

EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
