About the Workshop

This EMBO Workshop explores how genetic programs, cellular dynamics, and environmental factors shape limb development, regeneration, and morphological diversification across species. By integrating quantitative approaches, evolutionary perspectives, and ecological insights, it aims to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and advance our understanding of limb biology.

Sustainability at the meeting

The EMBO Courses & Workshops Programme assesses meetings based on the proposal and implementation of sustainability measures. Meetings can earn points across a range of measures, with each measure assigned a point value from one to five. These points classify the meeting into one of three sustainability levels, reflecting the organizers' commitment to enhancing the sustainability of their event. More information on the EMBO Courses & Workshops Sustainability Badge can be found here.

Our workshop integrates sustainability into both its scientific scope and practical organization. The centrally located venue encourages the use of public transportation, and participants residing in Japan who travel by train, bicycle, or on foot receive a discounted registration fee.

The conference will prioritize locally sourced food and minimize printed materials by distributing the abstract book and program electronically. Hitotsubashi Hall implements energy-efficient policies, including brownout measures during peak electricity use, and enforces a “carry-your-own-waste policy” to reduce event-generated waste.

A voluntary donation box will be available to support carbon-offset projects, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and responsible conference practices.
