About the Workshop
The intricate communication between the gut and brain plays a fundamental role in shaping stress resilience and overall health. Emerging research reveals that the gut microbiome, vagal pathways, and neuroimmune interactions not only mediate the body’s response to stress but also contribute to mood regulation, cognitive function, and systemic inflammation. Disruptions in gut-brain signaling have been implicated in stress-related disorders, including anxiety, depression, and metabolic dysfunction, highlighting the need for an integrated understanding of these pathways. This EMBO Workshop convenes leading experts to explore the molecular, neural, immune and microbiome mechanisms underlying gut-brain interactions in stress adaptation. Key topics include the bidirectional influence of gut and brain health, microbiota-derived neuromodulators, choroid plexus in gut-brain communication, neural-immune interaction and autonomic regulation of stress responses. By incorporating insights from basic and clinical research, this EMBO Workshop aims to bridge fundamental discoveries with translational applications, ultimately identifying novel strategies to enhance resilience, mitigate stress-induced disorders, and improve overall health outcomes.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
