Accommodation for invited speakers will be arranged on campus by the organizing committee.
For participants, accommodation will be provided on campus and at nearby off-campus locations on a payable basis. Shuttle services between the accommodation sites and the meeting venue will be arranged. The approximate costs for shared and single-occupancy rooms are provided below:
Limited on-campus accommodation:
- Single occupancy: ₹350–500 (EU 3.5–4.5) per night
- Shared occupancy: ₹250–350 (EU 2.5–3.5) per night
Nearby off-campus hotel accommodation options
- Single occupancy: ₹2,500–3,800 (EU 23.00–35.00) per night
- Shared occupancy: ₹1,350–1,900 (EU 12.50–17.50) per night
These accommodation costs are provided as a range, as the type of hotel and room allocation will depend on availability and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bangalore, being the Silicon Valley of India, is a very well connected city. It is connected well by air, road and rail to different parts of the world and other cities in India making it convenient for both international speakers and Indian participants to attend the conference.
The airport and rail/bus station are each only ~ 30 min from campus (20kms). It is possible to reach the institute at all hours of the day using either taxi services or bus services or a car. We will organize airport pickups/drop-offs for all speakers, as well as any participants with special needs or traveling with children. Other local participants will be provided detailed instructions for ground transportation.
inStem offers an excellent venue for hosting the conference. As one of India’s premier research institutions, the campus provides outstanding conference facilities, open architecture, scenic green spaces, and a vibrant, welcoming research community. The scientific sessions will take place in the inStem auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 125 participants. On-site catering will be provided in the spacious dining hall, which can accommodate up to 250 people.
Poster sessions will be held in the open-air atrium, making use of Bengaluru’s pleasant subtropical climate, with average temperatures ranging from approximately 17°C to 30°C during the meeting period.
A convenient on-campus day-care facility will be available for participants. Childcare costs for children under 10 years of age will be covered.
Sustainability at the meeting
The EMBO Courses & Workshops Programme assesses meetings based on the proposal and implementation of sustainability measures. Meetings can earn points across a range of measures, with each measure assigned a point value from one to five. These points classify the meeting into one of three sustainability levels, reflecting the organizers' commitment to enhancing the sustainability of their event. Some invited speakers from other continents are requested to give their talks remotely to save on travel.
The abstract book will be provided online. Plastic-free paper name badges and only digital advertising will be used for the Workshop.
Workshop participants mostly students and postdocs within India will be encouraged to travel to the meeting venue by ground transport with low carbon footprint. Off-site accommodation venue for some participants will be within walking distance of the venue to minimise the need for local transport.
As per the mandate of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, inStem adheres to a Zero Waste Campus policy. At least one of the conference meals will feature a vegetarian-only menu. Our meals are served using reusable cutlery, plates, and cups and bottled water or single-use wares will be avoided to minimize waste and promote sustainability.
