About the Workshop

Centrosomes are critical microtubule organizing centers comprising centrioles surrounded by PeriCentriolar Material (PCM). Centrioles also template the axoneme of cilia and flagella. As a result of these important functions, centrosomes and centrioles play fundamental roles in signaling, motility and division, with mutations leading to disease. Building on the success of previous renditions, this triennial EMBO Workshop brings together established and emerging scientists to discuss the latest findings in
the field. This EMBO Workshop program will highlight advances in our understanding of centriole assembly, the function of centrosomes in microtubule nucleation and cell division, the stability of centrioles and centrosomes, as well as centrosomes across systems. Furthermore, the role of centrosomes in the context of signaling, cilia and disease will be covered. Each session will feature two invited speakers and two short talks selected from the abstracts, thereby providing opportunities for many junior scientists to present orally. In addition, this EMBO Workshop will begin and end with a keynote by leaders in the field. Two poster sessions will complement the oral presentations, providing further opportunities for productive exchanges.
