About the Workshop
This EMBO Workshop will highlight newest developments on the role of Ca2+ signaling in responses to environmental factors such as light, abiotic stress or pathogens. Special focus will be places on the cross-talk between different response pathways and the emerging role of connections between topics that have so far been mostly studied isolated from each other, for example, regulatory roles of Ca2+ channels in auxin signaling and plant development. We will also address recent advances in live-cell imaging that allow analysis of (sub)cellular, tissue-specific or systemic responses as well as work on non-model organisms, especially crops and algae. The programme and order of the sessions was optimized from previous meetings. The lectures are grouped in seven different sessions where leaders in their fields give an introduction and highlight the current status of research in these field, followed by several selected short talks from participants based on the submitted abstracts. This EMBO Workshop will be opened and closed by two inspirational plenary lectures on groundbreaking discoveries given by renown pioneers in Ca2+ signaling in animals and plants highlighting the broader role of signaling in stress acclimation and climate change.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
