About the Workshop

For the 20th time, participants of the Workshop on Plant Membrane Biology (WPMB) conference can learn about the latest findings in the crucial field of Plant Membrane Biology. Biological membranes are complex structures consisting of lipids and proteins that control the passage of matter and information across the membrane. The plasma membrane serves as a boundary between the intra- and extracellular space, and all cellular compartments are defined by membrane enclosure. Processes in plant membranes determine plant growth, nutrient uptake, symbiosis with microorganisms and environmental stress resilience, and are crucial to understand for the development of a future sustainable agriculture.
Over the course of 5 days, we will host 11 sessions exploring various aspects of membrane signaling and transport, including a session dedicated to the methods used in this research. Based on the session topics, each session will feature 2 invited speakers and 4 short talks selected by an international organizing committee. Additionally, we invite you to bring a poster, from which selected participants will be picked to give elevator pitches on their projects. Please check out the full program for more details.
Beyond the outstanding program, we invite you to experience the charm of beautiful Elsinore, Denmark. The event, which includes full accommodation, will take place at Konventum, an architectural gem surrounded by stunning nature. This will be an all-inclusive experience for the entire duration of your stay. Moreover, the conference dinner will be hosted by the historic Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site that inspired Shakespeare’s Hamlet and houses the statue of the national hero, Holger Danske.
We look forward to welcoming you for a week of groundbreaking science and socializing with colleagues from around the world who share a passion for understanding Plant Membrane Biology.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
