About the Workshop

Plants at high elevations face harsh environments, and their growth and survival is further challenged by climate change. However, these plants grow successfully through unique adaptation strategies/mechanisms imparted by physiological, molecular and metabolic processes, and microbial-associations. Thus, high elevation environments harbour diverse extremophytes that can be explored for understanding adaptive mechanisms and commercial prospects. This EMBO workshop will be a congregation of global experts and young researchers deliberating on the critical aspects of plant adaptation to changing environmental variables such light & UV, temperature extremes, water deficit, pCO2/O2, etc. at multiple scales of biological organization from stress signalling to ecosystem response, and will bring consensus on future research directions towards climate-ecosystem equilibrium.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops

EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).

Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
