About the Workshop

Obesity remains a significant health concern, impacting over 17% of adults in Europe and contributing to metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. The conference's primary aim is to advance our understanding of metabolism and its implications for human health by adopting a holistic approach to address the multifaceted problem of metabolic syndrome. A key focus is exploring the intricate interactions among organs and their role in metabolic dysfunction. The conference will spotlight heart disease within the context of metabolic dysfunction. Additionally, the role of mitochondrial bioenergetics in metabolic regulation will be thoroughly examined, offering potential therapeutic opportunities. Moreover, the conference will delve into advancements in adipocyte biology, revealing the diverse functions of adipose tissue beyond fat storage. Exciting discoveries in liver metabolism, nutrient signaling, exercise, and their impact on metabolic diseases will also be discussed. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the conference aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of metabolic disorders and identify innovative approaches to enhance their management. By recognizing the interconnectedness of organs and their influence on overall metabolic function, the event seeks to chart the course for novel and holistic solutions to address the challenges posed by the metabolic syndrome.
