Selection criteria for Short Talks
In addition to the invited speakers, 48 speakers for short talks will be selected from submitted abstracts. When selecting these speakers, we will prioritize “early stage” researchers, aiming for a balance of students, postdocs, and new PIs. As an “early stage” we will consider researchers with ~ < 7 years post-PhD. We will take special circumstances into account, for example, if maternity leave has delayed a research career.
Abstract guidelines
Only participants registering to attend the on-site event are eligible to submit an abstract.
After registration you can submit your abstract via a separate link that will be provided in the email confirmation. Alternatively, you can access the link on the confirmation page directly after registering. The same login credentials are used for both processes.
Please note:
Abstract body: The limit of 300 word refers to manually typed text and excludes spaces. If an error occurs try using a different web browser (preferably Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox).
If you copy-paste the text into the form, hidden formatting might still be included which may cause the text to exceed the 300 words limit resulting in an error message. We recommend you clear all formatting before pasting in the text.
If you have special symbols in your text, make sure you are using Unicode characters, otherwise these will not be recognised.
Title: The title should not exceed 20 words. Only the first word of the title should start with a capital letter and the rest should be lowercase.
Authors and affiliations: Please fill in the author’s details as requested in the online form. The compulsory fields are: First Name, Last Name, Organisation Name (Affiliation or Company), Country and Email.
Kindly mark only one author in the role of First Author and please don’t forget to indicate who will be the Presenter.
Please enter your co-authors correctly via the system by adding accounts together with their organisation/institute. Do not copy-paste them into the body of the abstract text, as they will not be indexed in the abstract book.
Presentation types: When submitting your abstract, you can apply for an oral or poster presentation. A selection process will take place with the results announced by June 15th after the abstract submission deadline.
For detailed instructions on how to submit a conference abstract, follow the instructions provided in this video.

Sustainability
We have chosen a venue that is conveniently reachable by train from different regions, including Southern, Central, and Eastern Europe. Notably, the venue holds an Environmental Management System Certificate (ISO 14001:2015). As a testament to our dedication to sustainability, we've invited Green Labs Austria (https://greenlabsaustria.at) to present their innovative initiative at the workshop. Their ongoing efforts within the organizer's laboratory have led to substantial reductions in plastic waste and energy consumption. The goal is to inspire other laboratories to embrace comparable, practical, and impactful measures.
Moreover, we extended invitations for the workshop to Italian associations dedicated to the protection of maritime fauna. One such organization is Associazione ARDEA (www.associazioneardea.it), focusing on the project "A Beach for the Little Brother," involving the census and monitoring of Little Brother and Little Courier populations along the Campanian coasts. The initiative includes implementing protective measures and awareness campaigns. Additionally, we invited N'Sea Yet (www.nseayet.org) to join us for the workshop. This collaboration offers them a platform to showcase their projects, encouraging workshop attendees to contribute to their causes through donations.
Catering will include one vegetarian day, locally sourced ingredients, and bottled water or single-use wares will be avoided.
At least 4 speakers/organisers will be travelling within Europe by train.
Participants are requested to offset the CO2 footprint from the flights by paying the extra charge offered by most airlines.
Abstract books and programs will be shared in electronic form only.
