About the Practical Course

Besides complex networks of protein interactions, the life of the cell is also governed by biophysical parameters. The objective of this course is to disseminate practical knowledge concerning recent quantitative fluorescence microscopy methods aiming at characterizing biophysical properties of the living samples. In the present practical course, we wish to introduce recent imaging methods allowing participants to assess three essential biophysical components of the intracellular environment:

  1. the diffusion-reaction dynamics
  2. the physico-chemical state
  3. the mechanical tensions

Each component will be assessed in living cells and tissues using complementary methods. Hands-on sessions will focus not only on data acquisition but also on the methods available to quantitatively analyze and model these data.

The applicants will be able to register either for on/site or online participation. Online participants will have access to all talks and round tables as well as interactive discussion via chat. Practicals will only be accessible to onsite participants. If along the selection process, some applicants cannot be selected for on/site participation due to the limited number of people that can participate in the practicals, we will offer them the possibility to participate online.
