About the Practical Course

With the advancement of microscopy into digital imaging, computational analysis has increasingly become an essential component of research. However, most researchers still need training to fully exploit the quantitative characterisation of observed biological behaviour. This intensive EMBO Practical Course aims to provide innovative training in digital optical imaging, data analysis and its application to biological systems. We aim to go beyond the use of out- of-the-box, often commercial, solutions for image quantification and empower biologists to develop their own computational solutions for advanced quantitative imaging. Topics covered include computational image analysis using python, machine learning, and deep-learning application to noise-reduction, segmentation and super-resolution.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops

EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).

Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
