About the India-EMBO Lecture Course

Rapid advancement in the field of NMR spectroscopy in recent years has allowed for the development of novel methods for characterizing biomolecular structure and dynamics. The unique ability of NMR to probe biomolecules under native conditions and near physiological state has enabled researchers to address new problems in biology. This India | EMBO Lecture Course will focus on emerging developments in NMR that will spur further innovation in the areas of protein dynamics, membrane proteins, intrinsically disordered proteins, phase separation, paramagnetic proteins, and large protein complexes. We aim to bring together researchers with diverse interests to realize the full potential of the latest advances in solution and solid-state biomolecular NMR spectroscopy, and to engage early career researchers and leaders in the field in discussions about remaining challenges and the new methods and techniques being developed to address these problems. Bringing together scientists with expertise in different dimensions of NMR will enable facile exchange of ideas, spur collaborative research, and drive future breakthroughs.

About EMBO Courses and Workshops

EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).

Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.

Selection criteria

We will ensure a fair gender balance as well as a good distribution of international, regional and local attendees while selecting the participants and the recipients of the travel fellowships. Preference will be given to participants currently working in the field of protein NMR. The speakers for the available short talks slots will be chosen based on the relevance of their work to the topic of the lecture course, the quality of their research, gender balance and geographical distribution.

Applicants will be chosen based on the scientific merit of submitted abstracts, and for the diversity of participants (geographical, gender, career stage).

Abstract guidelines

Maximum 200 words explaining their work and its relevance in relation to the workshop topic.

Poster specifications

A0 size, vertical posters. Further details will be provided to accepted applicants by email.

Other registration information

  • All applicants should submit their CV.
  • Early career researchers (undergraduate, graduate students and postdoc) should submit a recommendation letter from their current supervisor(s) along with their CV.

Travel Grants

India Alliance can provide travel grants that can be used to cover travel, accommodation, visa costs and/or registration fees. The travel grants shall be allocated by the organisers on the basis of need and the quality of the abstract submitted. All applicants have to justify the reasons for applying for a travel grant. A maximum of INR 20,000 per person can be awarded.
