About the Workshop
Due to its success we have now reached the maximum number of participants on site. We are therefore proposing now an option for virtual attendance to all the in-person sessions. This will be done as a live stream with the ability to ask questions to the speakers and some opportunities to engage in conversation with others attending virtually.
This EMBO Workshop primarily aims to cover the latest (unpublished) data on skeletal muscle development, homeostasis, regeneration, and pathology. To cover in sufficient depth all topics that are in the forefront of contemporary muscle research, the following scientific sessions are planned:
- Making functional muscle
- Genomic and epigenomic views of myogenesis
- Satellite cells and muscle regeneration
- Homeostasis and aging
- Modeling and treating muscle diseases.
Leading experts of the muscle field have been invited to present recent unpublished data; further speakers will be selected from submitted abstracts, to ensure gender and geographic balance as well as to grant junior researchers the opportunity to discuss their work with the muscle community. Poster sessions and specific social events will ensure extended interactions between established scientists and junior scientists/trainees. Furthermore, we aim to foster discussions with leading socio-economic stakeholders by attracting patient associations and pharmas.
The workshop venue, surrounded by the historic Chantilly Forest, is situated in an isolated location, conducive to extended scientific discussions. We envisage that this meeting will provide an ideal setting to stimulate new collaborations and breakthroughs in the muscle field, at a fundamental and therapeutic level.
The safety of our attendees and staff are of top priority. Therefore, we will follow a strict policy requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (and booster, if eligible) in order to attend the meeting. Please contact the organizers if you have registered for in-person participation and cannot provide a proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
We will follow all national and local public health requirements applicable at the time of the meeting regarding masks for indoor gatherings.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
