Payment
Applicants for attendance and abstract submission at this EMBO Workshop should fill in the online registration form by the indicated deadline. At this stage no payment is requested.
Potential participants will be informed by e-mail about the outcome of their application by 5 February and—if successful—will be requested to proceed with the payment of registration fee by 15 February.
The full payment of registration fees (including accommodation costs) is requested in advance and can be made by credit card (or wire transfer); prospective attendees will be given all payment details by email.
A cancellation policy will be implemented, ensuring 90% refund for cancellation before March 31st, and incremental deductions for cancellations in the subsequent weeks.
Selection criteria
In case requests for attendance exceed our limits (110 participants, excluding speakers), the Organizing Committee will select applicants for participation, taking into account the quality of submitted abstracts, in addition to criteria that ensure a wide representation of different laboratories, countries, research topics, and diversity of attendees.
Abstract submission for poster or oral presentations is currently open til January 31, 2019. Late abstracts of exceptional interest may be submitted for the organizers' consideration at nguidance.workshop@gmail.com even after the indicated deadline, provided that registration for workshop attendance is still open (before 31 March 2019).
Abstract guidelines
Abstracts should not exceed 3000 characters (including spaces). They should clearly illustrate the specific topic and scientific question/rationale of the study, the guidance molecules investigated, the experimental models applied, and—if applicable—the results obtained.
Abstract proponents may indicate whether they would prefer to present their data in a poster session or in a short talk. Around twenty abstracts will be selected for oral presentations in the main speakers sessions.
Poster specifications
Posters should be maximum 1 meter wide (and 1.5 meters tall). All posters will be on display during the entire workshop. Two poster sessions will be arranged for discussion with alternate groups of presenters. Detailed instructions for poster presentations will be provided at a later stage.
A best Poster Prize will be assigned (funded by EMBO Press).
Travel grants
A limited number of travel grants are available for participants. Applicants do not need to apply separately for travel grants for this event but should indicate on the registration form if they wish to be considered for a travel grant. Selection of awardees is handled directly by the organizer who will notify all eligible participants. More information is available at EMBO Travel Grants' page.
Child care grant
EMBO Courses and Workshops offers grants to offset additional child care costs incurred by participants or speakers when participating at any EMBO Courses and Workshop funded meeting. Eligible costs include fees for a caregiver or child-care facility, travel costs for a caregiver, or travel costs for taking the child to the meeting etc. Please indicate on the registration form whether you would like to be considered for the grant. Please also describe how you intend to use the child care grant and specify the sum that you will need.
