About the Workshop
Dissecting the building blocks of the brain and the nervous system in general is a fundamental step to further understand the function of this complex tissue and its defects in disease. Recent advances in the study of neural development are astonishing, providing an extraordinary number of new insights into its underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms. These advances involve the use of multiple models and include research in neural stem cells, patterning, neuronal morphogenesis, synaptogenesis, circuit formation, glial-neuronal interactions, and neurological diseases related to these processes.
The aim of this EMBO Workshop is to provide a platform for discussion on recent advances in these fields, intended to build ties and foster collaborations in the near future. The following major topics will be included:
- Circuit Formation and Function
- Fate Specification from Cell to System
- Neural Differentiation
- Neuron-glia Interaction
- Stem Cell
- Synaptic Plasticity
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
