About the Workshop

A key question in biology is how living cells adapt to highly complex functional requirements in the context of an organism, within which they need to develop complex morphologies, interact with many other cells, and constantly adapt to changing physiological conditions. The cellular cytoskeleton, a dynamic and interactive filament network of multiple polymer types, is critical for cellular homoeostasis. Cytoskeleton remodelling results in physiological processes that manifest at scales dramatically larger than the size of its molecular constituents, and at timescales that are often beyond the realm of classic cell biology studies. This workshop aims to bring together experts from different specialisations who investigate the cytoskeleton across scales of biological organisation. We seek to develop a systemic and integrative understanding of the cellular cytoskeleton spanning evolutionary perspectives, mathematical modelling & biophysics, structural biology, cell biology, and whole-organism studies.
