About the India-EMBO Lecture Course

The complement system has been linked to kidney diseases for many decades. However, it is now clear that the alternative complement pathway, in particular, is a primary driver of disease pathologies in multiple kidney diseases such as atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), IgA nephropathy(IgAN), and membranous nephropathy (MN). Recent molecular studies on patients are providing insights into structural variations in complement regulators and molecules that trigger complement activation and, therefore, the pathologies. Many new treatments are also in the pipeline for these diseases. Thus, overall, the field is going through an exciting phase.

We, therefore, are hosting an India | EMBO Lecture Course on Complement in Kidney Diseases in the beautiful city of Pune and you are cordially invited to attend this meeting. It will cover broad-ranging topics from the basics of complement biology to the current status of C3G, IgAN and aHUS in India as well as globally. The meeting also aims to foster discussions and collaboration between clinicians and complement biologists through dedicated networking and collaboration forums. It will also serve as a platform for young researchers to present their work.
