About the Workshop
In recent years increasing interest has focused on understanding how mild fluctuations of reactive oxygen species, such as those occurring after metabolic shifts, developmental events, immunological responses or genetic disorders, can modulate signaling cascades. Thiols in proteins and their homeostatic reversible oxidation/reduction have emerged as the driving force of many physiological processes and the cause of many pathological phenomena. This EMBO Workshop aims at bringing together scientists from different disciplines and models to move the field of cysteine-mediated events forward, and to open up new avenues of research on thiol chemistry and oxidative stress-mediated signaling.
About EMBO Courses and Workshops
EMBO Courses and Workshops are selected for their excellent scientific quality and timelines, provision of good networking activities for all participants and speaker gender diversity (at least 40% of speakers must be from the underrepresented gender).
Organisers are encouraged to implement measures to make the meeting environmentally more sustainable.
